THE Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has announced that 20 people have been arrested in North-Western Province for operating unregistered pharmacies and agro-veterinary shops. In a statement, Tuesday, ZAMRA Senior Public Relations Officer Ludovic Mwape said one person was also arrested for being in possession of suspected government medicines, contrary to the laws of Zambia. “Twenty (20) people from seven (7) selected districts of Northwestern Province have been arrested for operating unregistered pharmacies and agro-veterinary shops, contrary to section 14 (1) of the Medicines and Allied substances Act No. 3 of 2013, while one (1) has been apprehended for being in possession of suspected government medicines contrary to Section 319 of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia.
