FORMER energy minister Yamfwa Mukanga says Zesco should have known from the beginning that installing and operating generators in critical institutions would be costly, arguing that the decision was made to appease people. Recently, Zesco Spokesperson Matongo Maumbi said the corporation had installed 23 generators in critical institutions in Lusaka, Chilanga, Kafue and Mumbwa, but lamented that they have proven to be expensive. Maumbi added that government now wanted to install solar power in other public institutions.
