THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has handed a 47-year-old businessman a 24-month suspended sentence for beating up a female nurse at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) after the death of his child. Magistrate Ireen Phiri, however, warned Sydney Hachokwe that he will serve the sentence if he committed a similar offence within 24 months. Hachokwe, of Mundengwa Settlement in Lusaka, had admitted assaulting Juliet Namwimwa. Particulars in the matter were that Hachokwe, on November 3, 2022 in Lusaka, assaulted Namwimwa, thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.
