THE Lusaka High Court has awarded three former Zambia Red Cross Society officials damages for malicious prosecution. In this matter, three former Red Cross Society officials sued the state demanding damages for malicious prosecution as well as K2, 425,500 as special damages in respect of money paid as legal fees. The three who include former chief executive officer Charles Mushitu; Sydney Chituta, a former finance and administration manager; and Kelvin Chiposwa, who was a board member at Red Cross Society were also claiming K47,830 as damages on money spent to hire taxis to attend the criminal court trial and pre-trial meetings with counsels.
