TWO money lenders have sued the state and former first lady Maureen Mwanawasa, challenging the cancellation of the lease relating to late president Levy Mwanawasa’s retirement house as well as the deployment of paramilitaries to the property. The two money lenders, Esther Chipasi and Mustapha Kwabena Osuman are seeking a declaration that the state’s decision to deploy heavily armed paramilitaries onto the property in order to prevent the current holder, the University of Lusaka, from enjoying quiet possession of the property violates the university’s right to protection from deprivation of property and directly affects them in this matter.
