TRIAL has failed to commence in the matter in which former High Court judge Joshua Banda is facing two counts of corruption transactions. This was after Banda’s lawyer, James Mataliro, informed Magistrate Irene Phiri that the accused person was not present as he has a bereavement. “Your Honour, the accused person is not present. I received information as I was entering this court this morning to the effect that the accused has lost his grandmother and he has since rushed to attend to the bereavement which occurred in the night within Lusaka.
