FORMER Infrastructure Development Minister Ronald Chitotela has retained his immunity from prosecution by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). This happened after the Court of Appeal set aside the Lusaka High Court’s order, discharging the immunity agreement he signed with the law enforcement agency The Court of Appeal has ruled that Chitotela is still immune from prosecution until such time that his agreement with ACC is discharged by a competent court. Meanwhile, Chitotela says the ACC should act professionally by pursuing cases and not individuals. In July this year, the Lusaka High Court set aside the out-of-court settlement agreement entered between ACC and Chitotela in relation to the offence of being in possession of property reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime....
