THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 56-year-old Matero man to 14 months imprisonment with hard labour for brutally assaulting his wife. In August this year, a video went viral on social media showing Baxton Danga mercilessly beating up his wife, Racheal Nkosi aged 30, using kicks, fists and a hoe handle. Danga committed the offence on August 8, 2023. He had initially denied having assaulted his wife but he later u-turned and pleaded guilty. In her statement to the court, Nkosi told Magistrate Kawama Mwamfuli that Danga beat her after she questioned why he had spent the night out.
