HUNDREDS of police officers were deployed around the High Court grounds yesterday to prevent PF supporters and cadres from offering solidarity to former president Edgar Lungu. And the Constitutional Court has dismissed Lungu’s preliminary issue to dismiss the matter commenced by a youth activist, challenging his eligibility to contest future elections. On the other hand, Lungu told journalists and sympathisers that, “we are still in court, game on”. In this matter, Michelo Chizombe wants a declaration that Lungu is not eligible to contest any future presidential elections. Chizombe, who also cited ECZ and the Attorney General as respondents, also wants the court to declare that Lungu’s participation in the August 2021 general elections was unconstitutional.
