FORMER president Edgar Lungu has asked the Constitutional Court to recuse three of its Judges in the matter where a youth activist, Michelo Chizombe, is challenging his eligibility to participate in future presidential elections. Lungu wants Constitutional Court president Professor Margret Munalula, her vice Justice Arnold Shilimi, and Justice Mapani Kawimbe to recuse themselves from hearing his eligibility matter. Meanwhile, Lungu has told the court that the biggest beneficiary of the outcome in the matter is President Hakainde Hichilema, who has publicly expressed desire to have him excluded from participating in the 2026 elections.
