COMMISSIONER for Refugees Prosper Ng’andu has appeared before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court and denied four charges of obtaining registration by false pretences. It is alleged that on August 13, 2024, Ng’andu procured certificates for four foreigners under the Refugees Act by falsely pretending that they were asylum seekers. Meanwhile, Lusaka Magistrate Idah Phiri-Mupemo has granted Ng’andu bail of K50,000 in his own recognisance. Ng’andu, 50, is facing four counts of obtaining registration by false pretence, Contrary to Section 316 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
