THE Economic and Financial Crimes Court, High Court Division, has set June 10, 2025, as the judgement date in the matter where former Intercity PF cadre Francis Muchemwa has appealed his three-year sentence. This was after Muchemwa’s lawyers from the Legal Aid Board argued that he should be acquitted. But Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Senior Legal and Prosecutions Officer Daniel Ngwira argued that the conviction imposed by the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court should be upheld, as it is well-founded. In July last year, Lusaka Chief Resident Magistrate Davies Chibwili convicted and sentenced Muchemwa to three years’ imprisonment with hard labour for being in possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime.
