FORMER Lumezi Independent MP Munir Zulu has petitioned the state in the High Court seeking an order to quash his one-year sentence in the Magistrates’ Court. Zulu wants an order quashing the purported unconstitutional proceedings, conviction, and sentencing by the Subordinate Court and expunging the public records relating to the unconstitutional institution of criminal proceedings against him. He wants a declaration and an order that the purported criminal proceedings against him were unconstitutional and therefore void. Zulu also wants an order for damages for false imprisonment.
