Zanaco seek a vital away win at Cotonsport in Cameroon on Wednesday that will move them closer to the 2017 CAF Champions League quarterfinals.
Mumamba Numba’s side are 2nd in Group D on 7 points, tied with record 8-time champions and current leaders Al Ahly of Egypt.
The two sides are three points ahead of Wydad Casablanca of Morocco who host Al Ahly late on Tuesday night in Casablanca.
No Zambian club has ever won in Cameroon but victory for Zanaco will not only see them make history, but also see them reach the magical 10 points that will almost guarantee their quarterfinal place and end winless and last placed Cotonsport’s interest in the race.
“This is an important game for us, we are going to attack them from the first whistle but we have to also careful so that we do not expose our backline,” Numba said.
But Numba has demanded a better showing from his charges in Africa after their average display on June 3 despite beating Cotonsport 2-1 in Lusaka.
Meanwhile, Cotonsport return home under extreme pressure to avoid another home defeat after losing 2-0 there against Al Ahly on May 23.
Cotonsports have 0 points after suffering three successive Group D defeats.
