Zesco United coach Zlatko Krmpotic has described his sides elimination from the quarterfinals of the 2017 Caf Confederation Cup as unlucky.
Zesco were ejected on away goals rule after a 2-2 home draw against SuperSport United at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
SuperSport earlier held Zesco to a 0-0 away first leg result on September 15 in Pretoria.
A dramatic 90th minute stoppage time goal from Thuso Phala sent SuperSport through to this weekends semifinals as Zesco tried without success to defend a pecious but narrow lead.
“I think we didn’t go to the next stage because of bad tactics. The tactics were veey good. How many games have we lost. Just one game and you think the team is not good,” said coach Krmpotic.
Krmpotic swipe came just four days after 6th placed Zesco were a crushed 3-0 at the same venue in a league game by number 9 side Lumwana Radiants.
Meanwhile, Zesco scored in the 3rd minute through John Chingandu before Phala equalised in the 33rd minute.
David Owino put Zesco back in the lead in the 49th minute but Phala punished the homeside for attempting to jealously protect their valuable lead.
SuperSport are home on Saturday against either MC Algier of Algeria or Tunisia’s Club Africain.
The final leg will be played during the weekend of October 22.
