A Chipata man has shot dead his 19-year-old son identified as Martin Mwale Junior for wearing his mother’s trousers.

Eastern Province Police Commissioner Alex Chilufya has confirmed the development to News Diggers! in an interview and identified the suspect as Martin Mwale of Kapata compound in Village Manjabila in Chief Chifunda of Chama district.

Chilufya said the murder incident was reported to police by the elder brother to the deceased identified as Shadrick Mwale aged 25 of H/No. Q-20 Kapata Compound in Chipata.

“He sustained a deep gunshot wound on the left upper thigh. A shot gun greener Serial # 25067 was used in the act. The shooting Occurred on 02/08/17 at 21:00 hrs at Kapata Compound in Chipata,” Chilufya said.

He said the victim was rushed to Chipata General Hospital where he passed on at around 01:40 hours today.

“The fire arm has since been recovered while suspect is still at large. Reason for shooting the deceased is that he had put on his mother’s long trousers,” said Chilufya.

Chilufya said a man hunt for Mwale has been launched.
