THE sit-in protest being conducted by public prosecutors, most of whom have worked for the Zambia Police Service, yesterday entered its second day, crippling the progress of cases at the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court. Hordes of people, mainly accused persons and witnesses had to be turned back from the Court premises due to lack of prosecutors to handle their matters. Magistrates who were ready to attend to matters had to return as they could not proceed without the presence of the State in most matters. The prosecutors are demanding that government resolves the issues relating to underpayments of their retirement packages Some prosecutors, majority of whom have worked in the Zambia Police service before being transferred to the National Prosecutions Authority...
