THE Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a 52-year-old Chingola woman for being in possession of K880,000 which is suspected to be proceeds of crime.
In a statement, Wednesday, ACC spokesperson Queen Chibwe stated that Sylvia Banda allegedly received the said money through First National Bank.
She stated that Banda has since been released on Bond and would appear in court soon.
“The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a Chingola woman for being in possession of K880, 000.00 reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime. Sylvia Chongo Mutale Banda aged 52 of House Number 11 Gandhi Road, Chingola has been arrested and charged with one count of possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime contrary to Section 71 (1) of the Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act Number 19 of 2010 of the Laws of Zambia,” stated Chibwe.
“Details being that between 1st March 2021 and 31st March 2021 in the Kitwe District of the Republic of Zambia jointly and whilst acting together with persons unknown, Ms. Sylvia Chongo Mutale Banda did receive money in the sum of K880,000.00 through First National Bank domiciled at Kitwe Branch, property reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime. Ms. Banda has since been released on Bond and will appear in court soon.”
