ACTING Health Minister Ambrose Lufuma says the current national drug stock is critically low but it has put in place several measures which will see this improve in the next few weeks. Giving a ministerial statement, Thursday, Lufuma said the availability of essential medicines and medical supplies countrywide in the last five years had been below the expected target of 80 percent. “Over the past years, accumulation of drug debt has become unbearable, as a result most suppliers could no longer supply medicines and medical supplies as they needed to be unlocked through debt servicing.
