EAST African Community (EAC) Secretary General Dr Peter Mathuki has called for the abolishment of visas and passports as requirements for one to travel to another country within the continent. In an interview on the sidelines of the African Union Mid-Year Summit, Dr Mathuki said an African should be able to travel to another country within the continent using only a national identification card. “Before integration, the total GDP of the EAC was actually below $100 million.
