ENERGY Minister Peter Kapala says government is hopeful that once electricity tariffs are increased, Zesco will be able to buy more vehicles and employ people in order to quickly attend to electrical faults. And Kapala says the total available average electricity generation now stands at 2,235 megawatts against a power demand of 2,231 megawatts. During a media briefing, Thursday, Kapala said the floods recorded in certain areas have affected Zesco’s infrastructure but said the utility company is currently cash-strapped in terms of maintenance. “Especially in this time of the year, there’s a lot of rain.
