FORMER defence minister George Mpombo claims that the prevailing mood of despair is forcing people to look for alternative leadership, hence calls for former president Edgar Lungu’s political comeback. In an interview, Mpombo said despite Lungu’s failure to control unruly cadres, “people believe his second journey to Damascus would reverse the present decline”. “Zambians are groaning under the agonising burden of multi-dimensional poverty which has turned the country into a haven for despair, misery and excruciating economic imbroglio.
