ACTIONAID Zambia head of programmes Musonda Kabinga says to address the problem of circumstantial children, courts must stop imposing custodial sentences on their mothers but give other forms of punishment. During President Hakainde Hichilema’s visit to Chimbokaila recently, he urged the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Home Affairs and International Security to consider setting up homes or structures where pregnant inmates and those with circumstantial children would be kept, as means of keeping children away from the prison environment.
