FINANCE Minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane has explained that Zambia’s external debt has increased from $13.04 billion to $14.7 billion, while domestic debt has risen from K194 billion to K225 billion since the UPND took over government in 2021. Dr Musokotwane further says government did not anticipate a drought when they sold the surplus maize in the country’s reserves. When he featured on Diamond TV’s Costa programme, Sunday, Dr Musokotwane was asked why he was quick to mention the debt left by PF but failed to disclose how much debt the UPND had accumulated so far.
