POLICE in Livingstone have arrested an accountant at Heartlands Best for stealing K13,088,668.50 from the company and giving some of the stolen funds to his wife and sisters. According to police, the suspect, Weston Simwambwa, accessed the funds which he used to purchase various assets, including motor vehicles, houses, cattle and a farm, either in his name or in the names of his relatives. Meanwhile, Livingstone Central Police Station has instituted investigations into the theft of 103 bags of 50kg fertiliser, which are suspected to have been stolen from the Department of Community Development and Social Welfare.
