CABINET has approved, in principle, the introduction of a Bill to repeal and replace several outdated laws governing betting, lotteries, and gaming in Zambia. Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says Cabinet believes the current legal framework has become obsolete due to economic transitions and rapid technological advancement, necessitating a more modern and effective regulatory system. Cabinet has also approved the key budget principles that will guide the formulation of the 2026-2028 Medium Term Budget Plan (MTBP) and the 2026 Budget as set out in the Budget Policy Concept Paper.
