FORMER Patriotic Front (PF) secretary general Davies Mwila says many people continue to conceal their wealth out of fear of persecution, accusing government agencies of applying the law selectively. Mwila has argued that until law enforcement institutions operate fairly and independently, individuals will avoid declaring their assets because they don’t trust the process. He was reacting to recent remarks by Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Gilbert Phiri, who stated that law enforcement agencies were aware that some individuals were disguising illicit wealth by transferring assets to relatives or children.
