DURING the African Union Panel Discussion on Industrialisation in Africa at the Mining Indaba in South Africa, our Minister of Mines and Minerals Development Honourable Paul Kabuswe delivered a remarkably candid address; so remarkable that it felt like he was reciting a speech written by someone else. Honourable Kabuswe criticised many of the deals that African countries have made with mining investors for being heavily tilted towards the investors. He also pointed out that politicians have a tendency of going to bed with investors, putting African leaders in a position where they are unable to hold their investors accountable.
