PERHAPS it’s time we go back to basics. Maybe we need to return to high school civic education and revisit the fundamental concept of a Constitution. Maybe we need to revisit the distinction between a written and unwritten Constitution. Countries that are governed under a written Constitution are expected to observe a document that stands the test of time. It is not by mistake that a written Constitution is hard to change, to amend. The intention is to make it stand the test of time. If we allowed this, then everyone who doesn’t want to follow a law would demand that the law is changed. People must follow the Constitution, not the Constitution following the endless, selfish desires of people....
