PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says he rates the UPND government’s performance so far with a solid seven out of 10. Addressing a crowd at a rally in Kalomo yesterday, the President said his administration is working to achieve the “remaining three scores” to reach a perfect 10. While this optimism is commendable, UPND must avoid such self-assessment and leave it to the people. It is important to remember that a student cannot be his own examiner and marker. A judge cannot rule in a case where he is also the defendant. Similarly, it is not very helpful for leaders to publicly rate their own government’s performance. That privilege belongs to the people.
