Musicians behind the Ronald Chitotela acquittal song have defended their compilation saying they are PF members who were merely celebrating their leader.

The song is celebrating the acquittal of Chitotela, who was then Housing and Infrastructure Minister, saying he was innocent and that they prayed for him day and night while jealous people failed to bring him down.

In an interview with News Diggers! Thursday, Kayombo said Chitotela was a great leader and his acquittal needed to be celebrated.

“Yes, we are PF musicians, you don’t know that? We are PF members; me, JK [Jordan Katembula] and Wile. That song is just a reality song. Sometimes when someone is going through a hard time, especially in Zambia, they like it. That song was not directed at anybody, it was just a celebration song, and the audience of the song is you Zambians. Those counts in court, I don’t know about them, the good thing is that he was acquitted, chapwa (that is all). And those are just rumors, he doesn’t have any case in court. He is our big man, he is a great leader in this nation. It is not good that you need to be bringing leaders down and thinking negative about leaders. They are working for our country to develop it. You have seen the infrastructure, you have seen the development right? We are all happy so let us not put people down. We have to remove that by preaching positivity,” said Kayombo.

“That is the goodness of our President [Edgar Lungu]. He allows you to be investigated until they fail to find you with a case, you know what I mean.”

Meanwhile, when contacted by this reporter, JK said he was in a meeting and further attempts to reach out to him proved futile.
