TODAY, Zambia proudly celebrates 59 years of independence, a significant occasion marking our country’s enduring journey towards self-determination and sovereignty. Unfortunately, this year’s Independence Day comes at a time when the country has just lost at least two of its highly respected and patriotic sons of the soil. The passing of former Speaker of the National Assembly Amusaa Mwanamwambwa and former minister of finance Ng’andu Peter Magande is tragic to all of us who remember the critical roles that they played in their respective fields of expertise, as they selflessly served our country.
