PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema’s decision to withdraw Constitution Amendment Bill No. 7 of 2025 from Parliament should be welcomed and applauded. As former Attorney General Musa Mwenye State Counsel aptly put it, back tracking on wrongs is a strength and not a weakness. We agree with our learned counsel, the decision to push constitutional amendments without consulting key stakeholders was misguided on UPND’s end. Therefore, this decision should be viewed as an admission that the manner in which Bill 7 was formulated taken before parliament was a misstep.
