THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has sentenced two traditional healers to two years in prison for attempting to harm President Hakainde Hichilema through sorcery. Magistrate Fine Mayambu says had the convicts succeeded in their mission, President Hichilema could have died within five days. He, therefore, sentenced the men to 24 months for professing knowledge of witchcraft and six months for being in possession of charms. The sentences will run concurrently from the date of their arrest in December 2024. The accused, Jasten Mabulesse Candunde and Leonard Phiri, a resident of Sinda District in Eastern Province, were charged with professing knowledge of witchcraft and possession of charms.
