LAST week, Minister of Health Dr Elijah Muchima announced that the country has so far recorded about 640 cholera cases, and by now over 10 patients have died from the disease. Dr Muchima said Zambia recorded cholera outbreaks affecting 17 districts across seven provinces. Well, all we can say is that the Cholera annual ‘ceremony’ is back once again. The number of people dying from Cholera is worrisome and the magnitude of the spread itself is scary. Cholera is a unique disease and it is also among the most preventable illnesses.
