WE do appreciate that the National Assembly has rules; we understand the requirement for debates to conform to the decorum of the House. A House of Laws must not be a congregation of noise and confusion. Our members of parliament are expected to debate using official language, devoid of hate speech and insults. Even out here in public, those are not permissible. We also agree that sometimes, our excited members of parliament tend to get emotional and they fail to observe the rules. In the past we have written editorial comments condemning the behaviour of Honourable Binwell Mpundu when he lost his temper and went on the offensive during debate.
