PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema deserves credit for the admission that the UPND adoption process was “messy”. This is a welcome departure from the tendency by politicians to pretend that all is well even when the evidence points in the opposite direction. But while we appreciate the President’s apology, we must also say that the word “messy” is perhaps the most generous description that can be given to what transpired during the UPND adoption process.
