GOVERNMENT says the number of accidents occurring during night operations has remained relatively constant since the lifting of the night travel ban on buses and trucks. Government also says the revocation of the night ban has resulted in an increase in the number of transport companies moving their goods during the night. In April, government revoked the Statutory Instrument that prohibited night driving in a decisive move aimed at facilitating the implementation of the 24-hour economy. In response to a press query, Ministry of Transport and Logistics Permanent Secretary Fredrick Mwalusaka said government had also observed that there were some companies that were still reluctant to move their goods during the night due to factors such as safety, among others....
