YOUTH, Sports and Arts Minister Elvis Nkandu says cooperatives that have failed to pay back the loans they acquired from government should not feel victimised when the law catches up with them. The Auditor General’s report revealed that out of the K29 million loans disbursed by the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts to youth cooperatives in 2021, only K3 million had been repaid. According to the Auditor General’s report on the accounts of the republic for the financial year ended December 31, 2022, most of the cooperatives neglected to pay back the money despite various demand notices being issued.
