THE National Health Insurance Management Authority has proposed to hike employee contributions in 2025. Presenting a budget proposal at the ongoing National Consultations for the 2025 Budget and 2025-2027 Medium Term Budget Plan, NHIMA Director Sarah Sitenta observed that the institution continued to face financial challenges as a result of small contributions for its services. “Many private healthcare facilities were sceptical about NHIMA, doubting the Authority’s ability to settle claims promptly. However, NHIMA quickly proved its efficacy, leading to the phrase ‘NHIMA Pays’. This positive reputation encouraged more hospitals, clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, dental hospitals, and eye clinics to seek accreditation.
