The Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has acquitted 11 UPND supporters who were facing a charge of riotous behavior.

When the matter came up for ruling on case to answer, Magistrate Sylvia Munyinya ruled that the prosecution had failed to adduce sufficient evidence to make their case.

This was despite five police officers testifying against the cadres.

Taisa Chihukwe and others were accused of rioting at the Lusaka High Court after the hearing of their president’s “right to be heard” case on December 15, 2016.

After being set free, the cadres were, however, ordered to clean the court premises as punishment for making noise.
