The Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has acquitted National Guidance Minister Godfridah Sumaili of contempt charges.
Senior resident magistrate Ireen Wishimanga has acquitted Reverend Sumaili after a state advocate Chimbeka Sakala informed her that the Office of the Director Of Public Prosecutions was offering no evidence against the accused person.
“On behalf of the DPP the state henceforth offers no evidence as against the accused Godfridah Sumaili,” said Sakala.
After she was acquitted, Rev, who was in the company of her husband and plain-clothed police officers, avoided journalists and drove away.
Last Tuesday, the DDP took over prosecution this case where UPND president Hakainde Hichilema and five others instituted contempt proceedings against Rev Sumaili over remarks attributed to her that ‘HH pushed Lungu to the wall by not recognising his presidency’ which was prejudicial to his treason case.

When we say the judicial system is compromised, this is what we mean. How do you take over a case for which you have no evidence or are not adequately prepared to prosecute?
Zambia nayonaika bane. We need to chase these lousy bald heads out of the city!
