THE State has submitted that DEC’s actions of seizing accounts and motor vehicles belonging to former PF member Maxwell Chongu were justifiable and in accordance with the provisions of the law. The State argues that this is because there was reasonable cause or grounds to suspect that the properties seized are proceeds of crime and money laundering activities. In August last year, the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) seized four motor vehicles belonging to Chongu, which included an unregistered Toyota Land Cruiser and Toyota Hilux, a Mark X and a Small Truck.
