Zanaco believe the 2017 Barclays Cup title is within their cusp after beating Lusaka Dynamos to reach the final.
The Bankers beat Dynamos 1-0 in the semifinals on October 14 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka to reach their third Barclays Cup final.
However, Zanaco have yet to lift the title despite taking part in each of the last ten editions since the tournament was introduced in 2007.
“I think it is good we won, we just want to get this Cup because we have never won it and we finished runner-up last season,” Zanaco assistant coach Dabid Chilufya said.
Zanaco lost 1-0 in last year’s final to Zesco United who will not be defending the Barclays Cup after losing 4-2 on post-match penalties against Napsa Stars following a 0-0 fulltime result in the other semifinal doubleheader at Nkoloma.
The Bankers are still on course for the double was they also battle to retain the FAZ Super Division title they won last season and are currently 2nd on the table on 53 points, three behind Green Buffaloes with less than nine matches to go.
“We are not far with the push for league title plus this Cup game. I believe we are going to get a double,” said Chilufya.
