Zambia Under-20 coach Mumamba Numba has promoted 16 players from his 2017 COSAFA Under-17 Cup winning team to his provisional 45-member side named to defend their title as hosts.
Zambia will host the COSAFA Under 20 Cup from December 6-16 in Kitwe.
Meanwhile, Numba has kept faith in his entire Under-17 midfield comprising the likes of Michael Kafusha, Clinton Lubula, Prince Mumba, Muma Mumba, John Mulalangabo, Niza Simutenda, Jimmy Hamanzuka plus Mamelodi Sundowns target Lameck Banda of Nkwazi.
Others are goalkeeper Emmanuel Mphasi including striker’s Martin Njobvu and Christopher Phiri.
Defenders Christopher Katongo, Kingsley Hakwiya, Victor Kasokolo, Jonathan Kapelembe and Andrew Phiri have also been promoted from the Under-17 team.
Midfielder Ngosa Sunzu is the only survivor from Zambia’s 2017 U20 FIFA World Cup team called for trials that begin in Lusaka on November 12.
And hosts Zambia have been drawn in Group A where they will play Swaziland, Uganda and Malawi.
Zambia will kick off its title defence against guest side from the CECAFA Zone, Uganda, on December 6 at Nkana Stadium.
Nkana and Arthur Davies Stadium will be the host venues for the tournament.
Numba replaces Beston Chambeshi as Under-20 coach following the latter’s promotion to the Under-23 team and Chipolopolo assistant bench.
Numba guided Zambia to its debut COSAFA U17 Cup triumph in Mauritius last July
