Police in Lusaka have rounded up some PF youths who intercepted Mukula trucks on Friday night.
One of the PF youths picked alerted his colleagues in the Youth mobilisation WhatsApp group that police had arrested several others and taken them to Lusaka Central Police.
The other rebellious youths have since initiated a protest gathering at Lusaka’s Levi Mall, to give solidarity to their arrested colleagues.
“Our friends have been arrested and taken to Central [Police]. All of us must now converge in numbers at Levi Junction. All youths must come now. It will not be nice if we abandon our friends [who have been arrested]. So everyone quickly come to Levy Mall. The journalists will find us there; if it means buying food for everyone, we will buy,” said one of the youths in a voice-note posted in the WhatsApp group.
Another youth who called News Diggers said some youths attempted to seek refuge at Kelvin Bwalya Fube’s law firm along Bwinjimfumu Road, but found some police officers hoovering around the premises.
Police Spokesperson Esther MWaata Katongo could not comment on the matter as her phone remained unanswered.
