A 35-year-old man and two of his children have suffocated to death in Lusaka’s Misisi Compound.

According to a statement issued by police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo, Gezani Zulu, his daughter Naomi and his son Titua died in their house between 01:00 hours and 03:00 hours, Wednesday.

“Three members of the same family died out of suspected suffocation due to a fire in the sitting room. The deceased are; the father Gezani Zulu aged 35, his daughter Naomi Zulu aged 16 and the son Titus Zulu aged 13. The neighbours could not notice the fire suspected to have burning between 01:00 hours and 03:00 hours, as the house had no enough ventilation. It was only discovered by the sister in law of the deceased man who peeped through the broken window and later alerted the people in the neighbourhood,” stated Katongo.

“The bodies were not burnt and have been taken to UTH mortuary. Cause of the fire is not yet known. The wife to the deceased man was out visiting her relatives.”
