President Edgar Lungu has with immediate effect appointed Southern Province Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso as Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of operations.

Kapeso is taking over from Malcom Mulenga whose contract has not been renewed.

Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda announced this at a media briefing, Wednesday, saying Kapeso would soon be sworn in.

Kapeso will be succeeded by his deputy, Diamond Likashi who was until his promotion in charge of TAZARA Unit in Mpika, which is yet to get a replacement.
