The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a Kasama Central-based police officer for corrupt activities involving over K5,000.
In a statement, Thursday, ACC public relations manager Timothy Moono stated that Arnold Mutunda, a police officer, aged 31, was arrested for corrupt practices as a public officer, contrary to the law.
“Arnold Mutunda, aged 31, has been arrested and charged with one count of corrupt practices by public officer contrary to section 19 (1) of Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012,” revealed Moono.
“Particulars of the offence are that, on dates unknown but between 1st September, 2017, and 31st December, 2017, at Kasama in the Kasama District of the Northern Province of the Republic of Zambia, Arnold Mutunda being a public officer, namely a police officer employed in the Zambia Police Service, did corruptly solicit and received a total of K5,500.00 cash gratification from Mukuka Bwalya as an inducement for him to facilitate the change of the offence from aggravated robbery to theft.”
