Minister of Mines Richard Musukwa says the ruling by a South African court directing ZCCM-IH to withdraw the KCM winding up proceedings from the Lusaka High Court has no bearing on the Zambian court process at the moment because it has not been registered.
Addressing journalists at State House today, Musukwa, who was flanked by his Justice counterpart Given Lubinda and Attorney General Likando Kalaluka, said state lawyers had been advised to appeal the judgement.
And Lubinda said Kalaluka would travel to SA to join the appeal in order to “protect the integrity of Zambian courts”.
Details later.

Good move honourable we don’t want Vedanta to come back they have made our lives miserable in copperbelt percificaly in chingola and chililabomwe. And make it fast to bring The new investors
Too childish comment by minister! It seems they are not well prepared for a fight with vendetta.
Where is the attorney general and our learned lawyers to advise musukwa. This is the issue that should remove him from his position as mines minister because of his stubbornness. Musukwa is attracting total destruction to Zambian economy. He should be reshuffled without delay
If the ruling has no bearing on the matter because the court lacks jurisdiction, why appeal?
Utter nonsense!
Check what the contract says about resolution of conflict.
Let us do everything according to the Law as the President has always said. In my own understanding, the shareholder agreement is clear in as far as arbitration is concerned. Appealing as the unlearned minister in law is suggesting will just embarrass us further.Even if we have hated the Indian miners there has to be a legal way of dealing with the situation, because they will fight legally to the bitter end of our economy, not to hold onto the unprofitable mine, but to just protect their reputation globally
